The World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association is the governing body for womens Snooker and Billiards. We have over 100 playing members world-wide with the eldest being 90 years old and the youngest 9 years. At a recent World Championship we had no fewer than 18 nationalities competing from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India, South Africa, Brazil, Singapore, Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Germany, Sweden, Poland, Norway, Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales
In a typical season the Ladies snooker calendar comprises of around six ranking tournaments staged in clubs all over the country. Although recently entry’s have dropped due to lack of sponsorship, on average about 40 members would compete regularly in each tournament, giving the girls plenty of opportunity to play. Many of the finals of the Ladies events have been held at the prestigious main tour venues, including the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.
The aim of the WLBSA is to encourage players and their love of the sport and nurture their interest; therefore anyone is free to become a member regardless of age or ability.
In the forthcoming season, we plan to stage at least 6 ranking events from September to March. There will be a Plate and Seniors competition at each event. The highlight of the season will be the last event in April, the World Championships, which will comprise of a main event, a World Doubles, World Billiards, World Seniors, World Mixed Pairs and World Plate.
